Well, this has started to go in a completely different direction than I expected. I lived in Lanzarote for a while and when we visited St Ives it reminded me of the volcanic rock and its black charcoal colours. With the white sands and turquoise sea it just took me back there and the rocks in St Ives bay have now been imprinted on to my mind.

I have done quite a few paintings and sketches of them already this week since returning. They are of the beach just as you are getting into St Ives from the footpath.

I will have to see where this painting goes now as it's hanging on a cliff edge. I am not sure if I like it or not which means if I get frustrated and cannot make it work then I might just paint over it.
